Cutting Due Diligence Review Time by ~95% at One of the World's Largest Banking Groups

Introduction

One of the world’s largest banking groups needed to review a high volume of compliance due-diligence questionnaires faster — both to onboard new clients quickly and to complete recurring refresh reviews by their regulatory deadlines — without adding headcount or lowering its compliance standards. To do this, the bank adopted MultiplAI’s AI-powered workflow platform, which automates the end-to-end review of compliance questionnaires — extraction, policy checks, follow-up questions, and audit evidence — while keeping analysts in control of every decision.

The result: a ~95% reduction in review time (from 2–3 hours to about six minutes per questionnaire), 99%+ accuracy with source-linked evidence, and a complete, time-stamped audit trail — enabling the same team to support roughly 20× the volume without added headcount.

Challenge

The team runs KYC / AML refresh due diligence on every client relationship the bank holds. Each review means working through lengthy compliance questionnaires — running 300+ questions across dozens of pages, plus issuing follow-up Request for Information (RFI) forms where answers fall short. This work was fully manual: about three hours per review, with peak-season backlogs, no standardized process across reviewers, and no audit trail, where a single error could trigger hours of investigation. Experienced reviewers could finish one in ~30 minutes — but that approach didn’t scale, didn’t transfer between people, and left nothing behind for an audit.

Solution

The team adopted MultiplAI’s platform, which automates the labour-intensive parts of the review while enforcing a standardized, best-practice workflow. Rather than deploy a generic tool, MultiplAI mapped the team’s real review process, designed an optimal standardized workflow with leadership sign-off, and configured the platform around it — integrated with the team’s systems. On the platform, the AI:

  • Extracts every answer from each questionnaire using dual-model cross-checking
  • Checks answers against internal policies and guidelines, flagging contradictions and gaps
  • Drafts follow-up RFIs and escalation actions
  • Produces a complete, time-stamped audit trail and one-click evidence pack

Analysts review only the exceptions and approve every result. The platform went live in September 2025, with adoption growing 4× during rollout.
